Anastas Lantsov was one of the Lantsov kings of Ravka.
Biography[]
The official story told was that years before the creation of the Shadow Fold, Anastas, the King, hired a Grisha as his military adviser. He was a Shadow Summoner known at the time as the Black Heretic.
The Black Heretic grew hungry for more power, and the King, fearing a coup, put a bounty on his head, and any Grisha that stood by him.
The Heretic knew he was outnumbered, so he attempted to create an army of his own using the same forbidden science Morozova once used to create his amplifiers. But he failed, created the Fold instead, and was killed by it. Countless others also died because of his actions.[1]
Only this was partially true as Anastas actually chased Grisha trying to control them after the Darkling worked as his adviser and won a war for him which caused Anastas to fear Grisha. The Darkling created the Shadow Fold trying to stop Anastas' forces after they killed his partner, Luda. He also survived the creation of the Fold but disappeared for a while as everyone believed he had passed away. Years later, he disguised himself as Kirigan, a descendant of the Black Heretic pretending to devote his life to undoing the great sin of his forbearer.[2]
