Botkin Yul-Erdene is a combat instructor at the Little Palace.

Biography[]

Botkin had been working at the Little Palace for many years, training Zoya Nazyalensky since she was ten.

When Alina Starkov arrives, Botkin underlines the importance of knowing how to fight, especially with the amount of enemies she has. He asks her to choose an opponent so that he can see what she knows. Alina decides to spar against Zoya, who easily wins. However, Zoya uses her Squaller powers against Alina in a fit of anger after being punched, despite knowing that the use of Grisha abilities in a training session is forbidden. Botkin reprimands her for it and orders her to leave.

Later, when Alina meets Baghra to train her own powers, Baghra calls her lessons with Botkin a waste of time.[1]

Personality and traits[]

Botkin is very direct with his words and highly values fighting skill. He can also be strict and fair, as he immediately chastises Zoya for using her powers against the Sun Summoner.

Physical description[]

Botkin is strong and sturdy, with a shaved head and beard. He wears a black robe.
