Birgir was a captain at Elling.
Biography[]
Birgir often took bribes from people wanting to get shipments through the harbor without trouble. He was rumored to have a new mistress, and could afford to keep her with the money he got from these bribes. The first morning Nina Zenik worked at the docks, she saw Birgir and Casper, one of his favorite guards, drag a mother and daughter off a whaler and beat them bloody.[1] Afterward, Birgir sent them to the convent in Gäfvalle to be experimented on.[2]
One night, Birgir plans a surprise inspection. Having caught wind of this, Adrik Zhabin, Leoni Hilli, Nina Zenik, and Enok Grahn and his family all try to leave Fjerda before it can happen. Casper questions them and lets them through, but Birgir tells them to stop before they can board the Verstoten. He suspects that something is off and orders Casper to signal the other guards. However, Nina kills him with two bone shards and turns on Birgir, whom she realizes is dying. Nina multiplies the sick cells within him and Birgir topples over, dead.[1]
Physical description[]
Birgir's eyes were cold and bright. He was short for a Fjerdan, with sloped shoulders and golden stubble. He wore a professionally tailored uniform with brass buttons.[1]
