Cofton is a city in Novyi Zem known for growing jurda, and is surrounded by jurda fields. It is located inland, miles west of the coast.[1]

Siege and Storm[]
Alina Starkov and Malyen Oretsev head to Cofton in search of jobs to finance their travel and lodging. There, Mal becomes friends with Jes. Mal and Alina are later found by The Darkling while entering their room in the boardinghouse.[1]
King of Scars[]
Enok Grahn lies that he, Nina Zenik, and his family are indentures leaving Fjerda to work at a jurda farm near Cofton. In reality, they are Grisha seeking refuge outside the country.[2]
Rule of Wolves[]
Magnus Opjer tells Nikolai Lantsov that he can be contacted at the Golden Hour, which he intends to buy.[3]

The Pit[]

The Pit is the nickname given by Mal to a boardinghouse he and Alina stay in. It is cheap, although crowded and filthy, and located in a worse part of Cofton.[1]
Unnamed shop[]
This shop sells calf and collard pies, which the shopkeeper claims are Zemeni delicacies. Alina buys dinner from this shop and finds the smell of the pies to be peculiar.[1]
The square[]
Mal and Alina meet here every evening while in Cofton. There is a large decorative fountain there, fed by four spigots.[1]
The Golden Hour[]
The Golden Hour is a highly disreputable tavern in Cofton that Magnus Opjer frequents.[3]
