Hringkälla, or the Day of Listening, is an annual event in Fjerda that occurs on the spring equinox.[1] The event takes place on the White Island of the Ice Court and consists of a sacred drüskelle ceremony and a secular party at the Royal Palace.
Description[]
Hringkälla is the day new drüskelle are initiated.[1] Aspirant drüskelle gather at the ancient ash tree in the center of the White Island to hear the voice of Djel. If the young men cross the ice moat undetected, they are initiated into the drüskelle in the listening ceremony at the sacred ash.[2]
Guests from around the world come to Djerholm for a big party hosted by the Fjerdan royals.[1] In Djerholm, decorations for Hringkälla include pepper cookies in the shape of wolves, hanging ornaments on ash trees, and silver ribbons. Wreaths of ash boughs and silver ribbons are made and sold.[3]
