The Istorii Sankt'ya ("The Lives of Saints") is a children's book of stories about Ravka's thirteen Saints. Each chapter features a full-page illustration of the Saint, rendered in bright colors.[1] These illustrations sometimes depict the Saints performing miracles, but most show their martyrdoms.[2]
A real-world version of the book, The Lives of Saints by Leigh Bardugo, was published on October 6, 2020.
History[]
It was given to peasant children a long time ago. At one point, all Grisha children who came to the Little Palace were given the book.[1]
The Apparat gave a copy to Alina Starkov, which she threw in her drawer without reading.[1] The Darkling took it months later.[3] Sturmhond stole it from him and gave it back to Alina; the little red book led Alina and Mal to the existence of the third amplifier.[2] The page on Ilya Morozova tips them off to a general location (with some help from the pilgrims).
Description[]
The book is small and bound in red leather with the title in Ravkan language, Istorii Sankt'ya, embossed in gold on the cover. Each chapter begins with a full-page illustration rendered in brightly colored inks.[1]
