Kenst Hjerte, meaning the Broken Heart in Fjerdan, are the large islands in the north of Fjerda. The sand around Kenst Hjerte is black and the waters are freezing. The islands are mostly inhabited by whaling villages, though there is a chapel to Sankta Ursula built into the rock on one of the islands.
According to Fjerdan folklore, the Kenst Hjerte were separated from mainland Fjerda when the sildroher Ulla created a tempest so strong it broke the land. Ulla is said to remain in the caves on the islands to this day. According to the worship of the Saints, the separation occurred when a priest of Djel tried to cut Sankta Ursula in two; an ocean wave cut the land instead.
