The Kingfisher was a small, light craft built by Nikolai Lantsov. The ship was modeled after the Hummingbird, and it could fly using Squaller winds.
History[]
Siege and Storm[]
The Kingfisher was completed shortly before David Kostyk and his Fabrikators successfully try out the dishes they had made to amplify Alina Starkov's power. The people there begin to celebrate, and Nikolai and his Squallers offer everyone rides in the Kingfisher.[1]
After the Little Palace is attacked by the Darkling, Nikolai takes his mother and father to the Kingfisher to escape safely. Malyen Oretsev suggests that he and Alina try to board with them, but Alina refuses.[2] Nikolai comes back the same night and is ignored by the nichevo'ya.[3]
Ruin and Rising[]
Nikolai later forces his parents to write a letter of abdication and leave on the Kingfisher, which takes them to Os Kervo.[4] When the ship returns, Nikolai immediately sends it out again, this time with a warning addressed to West Ravka's merchant council about the possibility that the Darkling could attack.[5]
Description[]
The Kingfisher is smaller and lighter than the Hummingbird. It has white sails[1] and double hulls.[3]
