Neshyenyer, also known as the Relentless Blade, is a legendary sword known forged by the Durast Sankta Neyar. Known for its unparalleled sharpness and mythical origins, the sword symbolizes immense power and the ancient craftsmanship of the Grisha.

History

When her city was approached by a battalion of clockwork soldiers created by Sankt Kho, Sankta Neyar forged a blade to defeat them and prayed over the metal. She battled the clockwork battalion for three days and three nights, only laying down her sword when the last soldier had been defeated. The sword was dubbed Neshyenyer, after the Shu word for "relentless", and a replica can be found in the palace in Ahmrat Jen.

Shadow and Bone (TV)

Mal Oretsev finds the legend of Neshyenyer when skimming the Istorii Sankt'ya for leads on the firebird. He notes the blade's ability to cut through shadow, believing it the key to defeating General Kirigan's nichevo'ya. Although Tolya Yul-Bataar initially dismisses the idea, they discuss it with Nikolai Lantsov, who suggests recruiting the Crows in Ketterdam to acquire the sword.

Kaz Brekker finds out that Neshyenyer was stolen by a thief known as The Disciple, and their next step is to speak to his fence, Ohval Saran. Kaz soon realizes that Saran has the sword, and he plans to steal it from her home. Following a long struggle between Saran and the Crows, The Disciple appears and reveals that Saran is Sankta Neyar herself. She gives Jesper Fahey the sword.

In the Shadow Fold, a nichevo'ya has Alina Starkov in its grasp when Inej Ghafa appears and slices through the monster with Neshyenyer. Inej offers the blade to Alina, who refuses to take it. Inej continues using the blade to defeat nichevo'ya when the Fold is destroyed. Once again, she gives the sword to Alina and tells her to keep it safe.

Description

Neshyenyer is a long, slender sword with an ethereal glow. Its blade has never rusted and is impossibly sharp, with intricate runes etched along its length that glimmer with a faint, magical light. The hilt is crafted from an unknown, dark metal and wrapped in leather, providing a firm grip.

Neshyenyer is known for its indestructible nature. No known force or weapon can damage it, making it a formidable asset in any conflict. The sword can cut through any material, including Grisha-crafted items that are typically resistant to damage. This makes it especially feared and revered in the Grishaverse. Rumors suggest that Neshyenyer possesses additional mystical properties, such as enhancing the abilities of the Grisha who wield it or having a mind of its own, choosing its bearer.
