Ni Weh Sesh (I Have No Heart) is the sixth episode of season 2 of Netflix's Shadow and Bone and the fourteenth episode of the series overall.
Synopsis[]
Alina and Mal’s journey to locate the elusive third amplifier leads to shocking revelations. The Crows run into trouble while breaking and entering.
Plot summary[]
Alina, Baghra, and Mal travel to Morozova’s workshop where Alina reveals her plan to kill the Darkling and create an army of light. Baghra warns Alina against using merzost because she won’t know the price of the magic until it’s too late.
Baghra then reveals that Morozova was her father, and she had a sister who was otkazat'sya but was accidentally killed with the Cut, leading to Baghra’s banishment. Inside the workshop, they find the caskets of Baghra’s mother and sister, but Baghra’s sister is missing. They realize that Morozova brought her back to life and turned her into the third amplifier, which is now Mal. Mal must sacrifice himself upon Alina’s blade, or else they’ll never be able to destroy the Fold.
The Darkling appears as a projection and tries to kill Alina but is ultimately stopped by Baghra who interferes to protect Alina and stop her son. She dies in the process.
Mal admits to Alina that he’s the firebird and that he’s accepted his fate. Alina refuses to accept the situation.
Vladim pours bone dust from Baghra’s finger onto the wound where the Darkling’s hand once was, bonding his mother to him as an amplifier. During the process, he sees her final moments, including when she tells Mal that he’s the firebird.
Jesper, Inej, Kaz and Tolya are poisoned while trapped in Ohval's house. The poison creates hallucinations for each of them. Wylan deduces that the poison is coming from the flowers, and they use butterflies as an antidote. Ohval is revealed to be Sankta Neyar, and Kaz convinces her to give him the blade to defeat the Darkling.

Trivia[]
- In the Grishaverse novels, "yuyeh sesh" and "ni weh sesh" are paired Shu Han proverbs that encourage someone to do what must be done. These are the titles for episode 5 and episode 6 respectively as both episodes are very tied together.[1]
- The Darkling briefly references the events in the prequel story The Demon in the Wood when he confronts Alina about his past saying "I, too, was a child once. A boy named Aleksander, who was betrayed and almost died because of it. Innocent no more." Said prequel follows the Darkling as a child, and how he was almost killed by a girl he thought was his friend.
