Sylvi was the younger sister of Annika. She was otkazat'sya, unlike her Tidemaker sister.
Biography[]
Sylvi's mother was killed by drüskelle when they were living near Overüt. Her father moved their family to live in the Ulle's settlement near the Fjerdan border. She was bullied by the Ulle's son, Lev, because she was otkazat'sya, but she seemed oblivious to the older boy's insults and threats.
When Lena and Eryk came to their settlement, Sylvi was impressed by their shadow summoning and Lena's beauty. She became convinced Lena was a princess.[1]
Sylvi learned of her sister's plans to hunt a bear amplifier nearby, and left the Grisha camp alone in an attempt to find it for her. However, she got lost and was brought to the otkazat'sya village nearby. The people there had hunted the bear and were preparing for a party, which Sylvi wanted to attend. Despite this, Annika soon found her and tugged her away, angry that the amplifier had been wasted. On the way back to the camp, Sylvi stopped, still stubborn about returning to the party. She stomped her foot and was sent falling when the rock crumbled beneath her. Annika reached out to save her sister, creating a tree of ice that she was able to safely climb down. When they returned to camp, Sylvi excitedly told her father and the Ulle about her sister's power, unaware that it had been aided by Eryk, who was a living amplifier.[2]
Later, Eryk killed Annika and Lev in self-defense. He framed a nearby otkazat'sya settlement for the crime, and he and his mother soon left the settlement. Afterward, Sylvi presumably lived alone with her father.[1]
Physical description[]
Annika had light hair and blue eyes, as was common close to the Fjerdan border.[1]
