Valentin Grankin is a wealthy carriage maker from Stelt and a widower twice over. He is the richest man for a hundred miles.[1]
Biography[]
When Zoya Nazyalensky was nine years old, her beauty caught Grankin's eye. He wanted to marry Zoya, giving her mother, Sabina Garin, gifts of meat and vegetables. Grankin was willing to pay a good price for Zoya and claimed that he would not harm her, but would wait for her to bleed.
Before the wedding could begin, Liliyana Garin, Zoya's aunt, refused to budge from her place at the altar. Valentin Grankin's men seized Liliyana and dragged her down the aisle while she yelled insults at Grankin, who cracked his walking stick against her skull. He kept hitting her until Zoya released a gust of wind, revealing her previously unknown Squaller powers. As Zoya and Liliyana left the church, Grankin whimpered and was hissed at by Zoya.[1]
