Vasily Lantsov is the prince of Ravka.
Biography[]
Vasily is present when Alina Starkov demonstrates her power before the King and Queen.[1] He also goes with his parents to the winter fete at the Little Palace.[2]
While dining with Nikolai, his younger brother, Vasily openly criticizes General Kirigan and Alina Starkov before Nikolai announces his engagement to Alina. He spies on Alina's conversation with Malyen Oretsev soon afterward.
Vasily later arrives in Alina's dressing room and proposes an alliance with her. Despite Alina's obvious disgust at his words, he tells her to consider it and kisses her hand before leaving.
For Nikolai and Alina's engagement party, Vasily invites many more guests than necessary, including those who participate in the horse races and brothels with him at Caryeva. This compromises their location, although Vasily refuses to listen. He begins a toast to Nikolai but is interrupted by the Darkling's nichevo'ya breaking through the ceiling. In the ensuing chaos, a nichevo'ya picks up Vasily and kills him.[3]
