The Grishaverse
The Grishaverse

"It would have been a quaint scene, a dreamy landscape for some hack painter to sell off to a rich merchant with a surfeit of cash and a dearth of taste—if it hadn’t been for the dead, ashy soil that stained the countryside like a blot of spilled ink."
— The blight on Yaryenosh, Rule of Wolves

Yaryenosh is a town in Ravka, governed by Kyril Mirov. It was one of the locations struck by the blight.

History[]

The blight covers at least two miles, taking with it ten houses, two families, and a weaver named Gavosh. Nikolai Lantsov, Zoya Nazyalensky, Tolya Yul-Bataar, and Tamar Kir-Bataar ride out to investigate the damage. When they see an argument break out among the townspeople and the Suli below, they stop the fight and are greeted by Kyril Mirov. Mirov blames the blight on the Suli, who had arrived just days earlier and were unharmed by the shadow. Nikolai defends the Suli but is insulted by the butcher. When Zoya stands up for the king, a woman speaks to her in Suli, but Zoya leads Mirov away to avoid interacting with the woman.

Nikolai suggests that the Suli move on from Yaryenosh, then interviews them about the blight before leaving.[1]

Description[]

A Suli encampment stands at the edge of town when Nikolai arrives. There are horse farms beyond the town, and the countryside would seem dreamy if not for the blight.[1]
